About Fluoride in Drinking Water

Water fluoridation is the controlled addition of fluoride to a public water supply to reduce tooth decay.

LCA does not actively treat our groundwater supplies with fluoride. However, we do add fluoride at the water plant for our Allentown Division, which supplies much of western Lehigh County. We also purchase water that contains fluoride from neighboring water systems. Some customer areas have fluoride in the tap water and some do not.

Learn more about Community Water Fluoridation from the Center for Disease Control.

Since customers need to have fluoride information to make important health decisions, please visit our water service area map to review more detailed information about your system.
